This interface, using the correct software (most available FREE) lets you perform the following operations:
- Read diagnostic trouble codes, both generic and manufacturer-specific, and display their meaning (over 3000 generic code definitions in the database).
- Clear trouble codes and turn off the MIL ("Check Engine" light)
- Display current sensor data, including:
- Engine RPM
- Calculated Load Value
- Coolant Temperature
- Fuel System Status
- Vehicle Speed
- Short Term Fuel Trim
- Long Term Fuel Trim
- Intake Manifold Pressure
- Timing Advance
- Intake Air Temperature
- Air Flow Rate
- Absolute Throttle Position
- Oxygen sensor voltages/associated short term fuel trims
- Fuel System status
- Fuel Pressure
- Also Data graphing and logging.
- And many more
The ELM 323 is compatible with all vehicles that use the ISO 9141and KWP2000 OBD2 protocols. It will perform all OBD2 system functions
Which means it will allow you to :
read and reset OBD2 Fault codes (mainly engine) ,
read selected engine sensors in real time
And clear the Engine Malfunction warning light.
It will not work on non-OBD2 cars, and it will not work on other OBD2 protocols (CAN ,VPW, PWM etc)
It will not access non-OBD2 modules (ABS, airbags etc) and it will not reset service intervals or service lights
